Chocolate Nut Porridge

A deliciously decadent-tasting breakfast that ticks all the boxes for a cold winter’s morning – you’ll be surprised by how healthy it is.

240g porridge oats 3 heaped tbsp cocoa powder

1.8 litres semi- skimmed milk

90g peanut butter 90ml date syrup

60g chopped roasted hazelnuts

240g fresh or frozen (defrosted) mixed berries (such as raspberries, blueberries and strawberries), roughly chopped if necessary

Tip the oats into a large saucepan, then stir in the cocoa powder and milk. Bring to the boil over a medium heat, stirring occasionally, then reduce the heat to a simmer.

Stir in the peanut butter and date syrup, then cook gently for 5 minutes, stirring all the time, until thickened and creamy.

Remove from the heat and serve hot, topped with the hazelnuts and mixed berries.
